Fourth Sunday in Lent - March 30, 2025

Sign Up for Passover Dinner April 17

I met Daryl Fenton during my first months at seminary in 2003. He was the sort of colorful character that I was getting used to meeting there. Before going to seminary, Daryl had run a large German restaurant in Chicago, sold stationary in Poland, and distributed an anti-rusting agent from his garage in Ambridge, PA. Daryl quickly talked me into serving as a seminarian with him at the same church. Then, we found ourselves co-workers and car-pool partners when I went to work for the Diocese of Pittsburgh and he took a job as the first chief operating officer for the Anglican Communion Network (the Anglican Church in North America's predecessor organization). After seminary, Daryl was asked to serve as the national director of the Church's Ministry among Jewish People (CMJ), first in the United States, and then in Israel.

After five years in Jerusalem, Daryl is back in Virginia this Maundy Thursday. I am thrilled that he will be with us at Epiphany to once again celebrate a special Passover Seder meal at 6pm on April 17. Daryl will help us connect the Passover meal that Jesus and the disciples ate and Jesus' own identification as the "Passover Lamb" to our faith as Christians. This is a family-friendly event with some special activities for kids. Please sign up so that we can plan accordingly.

There is an online sign-up here. There will be a paper sign-up sheet in the fellowship hall at church on Sunday.

God Bless

Watch Out for Falling Towers

Confession and Absolution

Epiphany's priest are available by appointment to hear confession and offer God's absolution of our sins. This is a particularly appropriate spiritual practice during the season of Lent, and a wonderful way to be reminded that God's grace is more powerful than anything we have said or done. If you are interested in preparing for confession, click here. Contact Fr. Peter or Mtr. Pamela to schedule a time for a personal confession.

Stations of the Cross Available Now

A new Lenten discipline we have added to Epiphany this year is one we have done in the past. Stations of the Cross plaques are on the walls along the classroom and office corridor. Following along the road that Jesus takes towards the cross can add depth to Lent that might surprise you. Don't forget to pick up the booklet to guide you, returning the booklet to the little table when you are finished. As you prepare to remember the life-changing announcement of the resurrection, consider making time for reflection during Lent.

Lenten Quiet Day on Saturday

Consider taking some time this Lent to join us at church on Saturday, March 29 between 9am-noon. Come for Morning Prayer at 9:00 or slip in some other time. We are coordinating childcare for those with little ones at home, but we need to know details ahead of time. Contact Mtr. Pamela about childcare. Sign up on the app. The Quiet Day would be a good time to try Stations of the Cross!

Junior Choir Begins Sunday

TJ Fredrick, the new Jr. Choir Director, is excited to lead the choir in singing “This Little Light of Mine” at Easter Sunday worship. Rehearsals begins this Sunday in the blue room at 9:30am and continue until Easter.
