”Faith, Hope and Love: Following Jesus in the Real World”

Epiphany’s parish weekend with Dr. Phil Harrold Oct. 24-26

Being a Christian includes a call to a certain kind of life as a response to God’s grace in Jesus Christ – one shaped by Faith, Hope and Love (1 Corinthians 13.13), but how do we live that kind of life, and who can we learn from as we travel that way at home and at work here in Northern Virginia?

Dr. Phil Harrold, associate professor of church history at Trinity seminary will be our guide Oct. 24-26 as we spend time together considering this question at this year’s parish weekend.

As we go on the journey, we will be exploring both what the Bible says, focusing particularly on 1 Corinithians 13 and Philippians 2:1-13, and also on the wisdom of significant Christian thinkers, such as Augustine of Hippo, Benedict of Nursia, and Matthew Tyndale.

The schedule for the weekend is as follows:

Friday, October 24 – 7:30-9pm – Dessert and first session

Saturday, October 25 – 9am – Coffee and rolls

                       9:30 – 10:30 Session 2

                       10:30 -11 Break

                       11 – noon – Session 3

Sunday, October 26 – Sunday Sermon by Dr. Harrold

“I am looking forward to having Dr. Harrold with us. He is a gifted teacher who will help us not only learn, but apply what we are learning to our lives. Ultimately, our practicing of the virtues of faith, hope, and love, is following the path of Jesus, whose own perfect faith, hope and love led him to the cross and our salvation,” said the Rev. Peter Frank, Epiphany’s rector.

The parish weekend is free and open to all (there will be an offering basket to defray hospitality expenses). That said, it would be helpful for planning purposes to know you expect to attend. Please send an email to parishweekend@epiphanyanglican.net with your name and the number who plan to attend.
