In conversation with the Wardens, I have decided to cancel all activities at Epiphany tomorrow, January 24. This means there will be no 8 or 10 am worship services or any other events at the church. Please stay home and stay safe as road crews and others do the work of cleaning up after this historic storm.
That said, just because we are home doesn’t mean we can’t worship. In fact, I encourage everyone to plan on spending time in prayer and Bible reading tomorrow morning. Tomorrow, the following passages would have been heard at Epiphany – Nehemiah 8:2-10, Psalm 113, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, and Luke 4:14-21.
Here are two other ways to worship tomorrow:
- The Service of Morning Prayer. If you have not worshipped using Morning Prayer before, the complete service for this Sunday, including music, prayers, and scripture readings, can be found here.
- Live streaming. Holy Cross Anglican Cathedral in Loganville, Georgia, offers live streaming of their services, much like we do at Epiphany. Holy Cross is the home church of our Archbishop, Foley Beach. Their services are at 8:45 and 11:07 tomorrow morning. Their live streaming page is here. I am also putting their lifestream player at the bottom of this note.
While canceling worship services is not something I do lightly, I do think there are some things God is reminding of us here in the middle of the storm. First, we are the church, wherever we are. And secondly, in spite of all the things in our life that we can control, there is still much (including the weather) that is in God’s hands. Stay safe this weekend, and see you next week.
