The Drama of Scripture: Lenten Preaching Series Begins March 3

People often think of the Bible as a mostly unrelated collection of spiritual advice, fables and moral precepts.  But what if scripture was more than that?  What if the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation was “the true story of the whole world?” that tells us who we are and who God is, where we are from, and where we are going?

Over the next seven weeks that’s what we will be talking about on Sunday mornings at Epiphany.  Our Lenten Preaching Series, based on “The Drama of Scripture, Finding our Place in the Biblical Story” by Craig G. Bartholomew and Michael W. Goheen, is designed to help us see both how the Bible fits together as a single story and also find where we belong in the drama of God’s saving work.

We begin March 3.

March 3 – Creation

March 10 – The Fall

March 17 – Redemption Initiated

March 24 – Redemption Accomplished (part 1)

March 31 – Redemption Accomplished (part 2)

April 7 – Mission of the Church

April 14 – Final Victory

“At Epiphany, we have three ongoing teaching goals; to help our congregation understand the Bible as a whole, to ‘dive deep’ into particular books and passages in scripture, and equip our congregation to confidently live and speak as Christians in the world.  Our Lenten preaching series addresses the first of these goals,” said the Rev. Robin Rauh, Epiphany’s rector.
