On Tuesday, May 28, Epiphany’s Anne Bracy packed and sorted the last 101 six-meal packs for neighborhood children at Coates Elementary School for the 2012-2013 school year. Since beginning this project in October, 2012, Epiphany members have donated approximately 6,000 meals to kids who might otherwise go hungry on the weekends.
“Words can’t express the joy in the kids eyes when I drop off their food bags every Friday,” said Lee Roberts, school counselor at Coates.
“One of the things we wanted to do right away when Epiphany moved to our new neighborhood was begin to get to know and to serve the people around us. It’s a great joy to see how Epiphany members have embraced our relationship with the kids at Coates and provided so much help in Jesus’ name. I also want to particularly thank Anne Bracy for her leadership for this project,” said the Rev. Robin Rauh, Epiphany’s rector.
Epiphany members also serve as lunchtime mentors for kids at Coates, and will be supporting a school field day June 7. This summer, Epiphany is looking forward to hosting a soccer camp at the school August 5-9.
